BiSL® Functional management

Business Information Services Library (BiSL) is a framework with underpinning best practices in the functional management domain, focusing on Information management within the user organization, gathered from information systems. BiSL has close connections with ICT in company processes. To many people this specific connection with the surrounding domains is not quite clear and understandable. After this two-day course (with an optional 3rd exam day) you are able to put the context of the BiSL framework into words and understand the mutual relationship between functional -, technical - and application management (BiSL, ITIL, ASL). You will have better understanding of the BiSL framework and internal coherence of the processes.

Course introduction

The course is given by an experienced BiSL trainer, who guides you through the course material and prepares you for the Exin exam. Integrated exercises are a standard part of the interactive course. Exam preparation is optional if the exam is requested as part of the course. The exam specifications are issued by Exin and offer you an acknowledged EXIN certification. The BiSL Foundation exam assays the theoretic base knowledge of functional management within the user organization. Achieving the BiSL Foundation certificate pointing out knowledge and understanding of:

• The BiSL context
• BiSL process model
• The use of BiSL

The specific learning objectives are:

• Getting acquainted with the different BiSL process clusters and BiSL processes
• Understanding of the BiSL framework and the internal dependencies of the organization layers
• Understanding of Information management
• Getting handles for applying BiSL in your organization
• Recognizing the increasing interest of functional management

                                   Pre-requisite

Minimum of 6 months experience in a functional user-environment

Target group

The BiSL Foundation exam is meant for people who are dealing with functional management in daily practice. Apart from the traditional functional application administrator are the information managers, other administrators and people who are (in-)directly involved in functional management within the organization. Also managers and employees who would like to know more about the BiSL framework.
